Rain was threatening to dampen the Kenakena School Movin’March breakfast but thankfully the sun came out just in time. Students and parents alike were tucking into the free sausage sizzle courtesy of Kapiti Coast District Council and the Parent Network – and the coffee cart had a consistently long line of adults! A number of families chose the BYO option and had cereal and fruit picnic style in the school grounds.
Some families were trying walking or wheeling to school as a special treat whilst others were celebrating their regular routine. Families enjoyed spending a little longer getting to school while benefiting from quality time together and an active start to the day.
Kapiti representative on the Greater Wellington Regional Council Penny Gaylor was on hand to give out Movin’March prizes. Teachers distributed fruit to chase down the morning sausage. Amongst the crowd were parents, grandparents, older siblings and local personalities and Kenakena parents - Labour MP Rob McCann and All Black rugby legend Christian Cullen.
