Anthony get's movin'!

My name is Anthony and I am 10 years old and I live in Wellington.

I am very shy and embarrassed about the way I look.

I am really big for my age. I am about 40cm taller than all the other kids in my syndicate. I am also really big in my body. People think that I am a lot older than what I am and I get teased at school every day for being fat.

I don't like the way that I look and feel so I have been working really hard making better choices of the food that I eat and getting more exercise.

Everyday since the beginning of the school year I have walked or scooted to school and home. I can now see and feel changes in my body. My clothes are baggy where they used to be tight and I am faster to get home. It used to take me 45mins to walk home and now it takes me 20mins.

My mum and dad are so proud of me. I am proud of me.

My big brother went to college this year and I have to be in charge and walk my little brother and be responsible. My mum and dad said that I am doing a really good job of that especially because my little brother is sometimes naughty. On the way home there are 3 flights of stairs that we have to go up so if my brother takes his bike, I have to carry that up there for him and he takes my scooter.

Movin'March is really good and fun and something that I can do and helps motivate lots of kids like me to go out and exercise and get nice fresh air in the morning.

I hope that sharing my story will help and encourage other kids to be more active.
